Jennifer Coolidge Says Ariana Grande’s Impression of Her Pulled Career Out of “Dead Zone”

Jennifer Coolidge may have appeared in Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” music video in 2018, but now, a few years later, the actress is thanking the singer for launching many chances.

On Thursday, when visiting The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the late-night host showed Coolidge the impersonation that Grande and Chloe Fineman did on his show. Coolidge stated that watching Grande’s impersonation was the start of “a lot of good things” for her career.

Grande appears in the video as Reese Witherspoon’s Elle Woods, having a conversation with Coolidge, who reprises her role as Paulette, in a hair shop montage. Grande and Coolidge are also shown flirting with salon patrons using the film’s trademark “Bend and Snap” tactic.

Since then, she has had a major part in HBO’s The White Lotus, in which she plays a lady who vacations at a luxury resort while still suffering the loss of her mother. Though she has earned accolades for her portrayal, the actress acknowledged to Fallon that she did not want to take the job at first.

Grande paid homage to popular teen flicks like Mean Girls, Bring It On, Legally Blonde, and 13 Going on 30 in her “Thank U, Next” music video.
