14-Year-Old Boy Becomes Youngest in UK to be Convicted of Terror Offense

A 14-year-old schoolboy from Darlington, County Durham has become the youngest person in the United Kingdom to be convicted of terror offenses.

Appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Jan. 18, the boy, who cannot be named due to his age, pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing information useful to a terrorist.

Police said the charges are related to extreme rightwing terrorism.

The boy will next appear at Newton Aycluffe Youth Court on April 1 for sentencing.

Authorities charged the boy last week with possessing terrorist publications, namely manuals for making explosives.

The boy had also been active in racist online forums.

Police arrested the boy in July 2021, when he was 13, as part of a pre-planned, intelligence-led investigation carried out by the Counter Terrorism North East.
