DAZN, the fast-rising sports streaming company, is doubling down on its original programming push with the creation of DAZN Studios, a specialized content production arm.
The new division will focus on developing new projects, marketing and licensing DAZN’s original sports documentaries, series, and features, and exploring new production possibilities.
The news comes as DAZN prepares to world debut La Guerra Civil, directed by Eva Longoria Bastón, at Sundance and as part of the company’s 2022 global original content slate launch.
Among the new DAZN titles announced are Maradona: The Fall, which examines Diego Maradona’s dramatic fall from grace following the 1994 World Cup; Green Lions, which examines Cameroon’s explosive arrival at the 1990 World Cup; and the second production from DAZN’s three-project deal with Brazilian soccer icon Ronaldo, which will be released theatrically later this year.
The DAZN Studios debut also comes only one day after DAZN announced a shift in leadership structure, with Shay Segev becoming sole CEO and former Amazon executive Darren Waterman joining as chief financial officer.
