On Jan. 15, James Austin Johnson’s Joe Biden appeared on Saturday Night Live’s first cold open of 2022, blaming everything on Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“There’s one simple thing you can do to make this whole virus go away: Stop seeing Spider-Man,” Johnson’s Biden said in a press conference when addressing the rise in COVID-19 cases.
In answer to Yang’s query regarding experts claiming that the true issue was a lack of testing, Johnson stated that Spider-Man had a 98 percent on “au gratin potatoes.”
The question Johnson’s Biden was most eager to address was if another version of President Joe Biden in the universe truly wants people to see the record-breaking superhero flick.
Johnson’s Biden stated that he believes in the multiverse because it makes more sense than “whatever the hell our existing universe is,” adding, “I wake up every morning and look at the news and say, ‘This can’t be right.'”
In the middle of his outburst, a tattooed Pete Davidson appeared, claiming to be the Joe Biden of “the actual universe,” which was established as a joke in 2016 after the Chicago Cubs won the World Series and is ready to implode.
Later, DeBose, McKinnon, Yang, Chris Redd, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, and Kenan Thompson appeared in a satire of another classic musical, The Sound of Music.
