Iran Says Key Issues in Vienna Talks Require US’s Political Decision

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Monday that key issues in the Vienna talks absolutely require a political resolve and decision by the US.

In a weekly press briefing, Khatibzadeh said that certain important issues have still remained unresolved in Vienna talks between Iran and the world powers.

“These key issues require a specific political decision by the US to determine it,” Khatibzadeh said, but did not elaborate on those key issues.

Iranian officials have repeatedly insisted on removing sanctions imposed by the US.

The eight rounds of Vienna talks were paused on Friday evening with representatives of Russia, China, France, Britain, and Germany returned to their countries for further consultations.

According to Khatibzadeh, all sides are expected to return to the negotiating table after two days, and the negotiators will focus on the removal of all sanctions that the US reimposed on Iran following its withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal in 2018.
