David Ramsey will resume his role as Arrow’s John Diggle and feature in The CW’s miniseries Justice U.
The project is now in development and was written by Michael Narducci (The Vampire Diaries) and Zoanne Clack (Grey’s Anatomy) and has been in the works for months. If The CW chooses to press through with the screenplay, Ramsey will also direct the pilot. Ramsey’s directing position is part of a larger agreement he struck with Berlanti Productions that will see him direct and guest feature in several episodes of the Arrowverse series.
Greg Berlanti, the creator of the Arrowverse, is the executive producer for Justice U, with Berlanti Productions partner Sarah Schechter and TV president David Madden also listed as EPs. The drama will also be executive produced by Geoff Johns. Warner Bros. produced the DC Comics drama. TV, where Berlanti is still under a lucrative overall TV contract.
Justice U is Berlanti’s second DC program in development at The CW for the 2022-23 broadcast season, following Gotham Knights.
Berlanti’s DC lineup at The CW includes Batwoman, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Superman & Lois, following the conclusion of Supergirl.
The announcement comes as affiliate organization Nexstar is in discussions with The CW’s present owners, ViacomCBS and Warner Bros., to purchase a controlling interest in the network.
