Former UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock Tests Positive for COVID-19 for a Second Time

Former United Kingdom Health Secretary Matt Hancock tested positive for COVID-19 for a second time.

Hancock announced on Jan. 11 on Twitter that he contracted the virus again on Jan. 10 and has since been self-isolating at home.

“Thankfully I feel fine. Much better than last time and that’s thanks to the vaccine,” Hancock wrote on social media.

Hancock first got COVID-19 at the peak of the first wave of the pandemic in April 2020 when vaccines were not yet available.

Hancock was forced to resign as health secretary in June 2021 shortly after the leak of video surveillance footage showing him kissing an aide in his office, in breach of physical distancing rules at the time.
