Yemeni Army Claims It Shot Down UAE Spy Drone

The Yemen’s Armed Forces on Wednesday claimed they have shot down a spy drone belonging to the United Arab Emirates Air Forces in the southern province of Shabwa.

Army Spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said that the Yemeni Air Defense shot down a UAE “Chengdu Wing Loong II” drone while carrying out hostile actions over the city of Usaylan in Shabwa province.

Saree said the army used ground-to-air missiles to target the drone.

Saree also said that the Yemeni navy had recently seized a UAE ship that was carrying large quantities of weapons.

The UAE officials did not comment on the news so far.

Deputy Chief of Joint Staff of the Yemeni Army Ali al-Mushki said they have all rights to monitor and take action if necessary to respond to any hostile actions by coalition forces in Yemeni waters.

Yemeni military officials had earlier said the troops pushed deeper into the territory under the control of Houthi rebels in the southern province of Shabwa, just days after seizing control of the district of Ouselan.
