Jodie Comer, who is presently nominated for her performance in Scott’s The Last Duel, has pulled out of Kitbag.
Comer was supposed to portray Josephine opposite Joaquin Phoenix’s Bonaparte in a movie that would follow the Frenchman’s ascent on the battlefield and in politics while concentrating on their love story.
The picture will begin filming in Europe later in January. Prima Facie, Comer’s debut West End stage show, is set to begin rehearsals in March for a limited run from April to June.
Last Duel, a medieval France-set drama in which the wife of a knight accuses her husband’s companion of rape, stars Comer with Matt Damon and Adam Driver.
The plot is narrated through the perspective of the three main characters.
The film was a box office flop, but it is gaining awards buzz, with Comer’s portrayal as the wife being one of the most frequently lauded aspects.
Comer’s next film will be the fourth (and last) season of AMC’s Killing Eve, which premieres on February 27.
