The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Monitor said on Wednesday that pro-Iranian militia fighters fired shells towards a US base in eastern Syria’s Al-Omar oil field that caused damage but no casualties.
At least three rockets hit Al-Omar, a base located in the eastern in Deir Ezzor region, the Observatory said.
There were no casualties as a result of the shelling, the Observatory said, but said one fell on a helicopter landing pad.
According to the Observatory, the attack was carried out by the pro-Iranian militia groups that are active in the Deir Ezzor region which borders Iraq.
It said US-led coalition forces retaliated by striking the source of the artillery fire outside the eastern town of Al-Mayadeen which is a hub for Tehran and its Syria proxies.
Meanwhile, the coalition force in Syria said they had foiled a rocket attack on a US base called “Green Village” in the eastern Deir Ezzor region.
Moreover, a coalition official said the US-led coalition against the Islamic State group in Iraq shot down two armed drones targeting a compound at Baghdad airport.
