Vicki Lawrence is among those grieving the passing of her co-star and lifelong friend Betty White, who died last week at the age of 99, just a few weeks shy of her 100th birthday.
The two actresses met while co-starring on The Carol Burnett Show (1967–78), where Lawrence portrayed Thelma Harper and White played one of Thelma’s kids, Ellen.
The pair went on to reprise their roles in the series spinoff, Mama’s Family, in the 1980s, and continued to appear on other shows together, including game shows like Super Password, and remained friends.
A comment claimed to White appeared on social media shortly after her death on December 31, claiming she had had a COVID-19 booster dose on December 28. This fueled speculation that the actress died as a result of the vaccine, although Witjas earlier told the Associated Press that the late actress did not make the quote, and she did have the booster at the time.
Following White’s death, several celebrities, including Ryan Reynolds, Don Cheadle, Henry Winkler, Dionne Warwick, and others, flocked to social media to pay their respects to the actress, whom Warwick praised as a “great talent.”
