The government of Oman on Tuesday declared a holiday for all governmental-run and private schools due to heavy rainfalls.
Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority’s weather office said rains could continue until the weekend.
“The heavy rain falls caused serious damage to businesses, vehicles and crops across the country,” the office said in a statement.
The authorities called on the public to limit their travels this week as roads will be slippery and drivers must be careful while driving.
“Schools will be suspended from today (Tuesday) and the ministry of education is waiting for further advice from the official to resume classes,” state-owned Oman News Agency reported.
This comes as recently heavy rainfall in northern parts of Oman resulted into the death of six people.
