Netflix is wiping the slate clean and saying goodbye to a number of TV episodes and movies.
Snowpiecer, the Oscar-winning filmmaker Bong Joon Ho’s post-apocalyptic action movie, hits theaters on January 1st. The 2013 film, starring Chris Evans, Octavia Spencer, Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, and longtime Bong collaborator Song Kang-ho, revolves around a train carrying humanity’s final remains as it rounds the world.
Other films departing the platform in January include all five installments of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Saga, starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, the Wachowskis’ ambitious science-fiction adaptation Cloud Atlas, and Sofia Coppola’s crime satire The Bling Ring, based on a 2010 Vanity Fair article and starring Emma Watson and Taissa Farmiga.
Clint Eastwood’s 2003 Oscar-winning mystery film Mystic River, starring Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Kevin Bacon, and Laurence Fishburne, and Martin Scorsese’s mind-bending neo-noir psychological thriller Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, are also leaving Netflix at the end of the month.
In terms of TV series, all five seasons of Episodes, Matt LeBlanc’s humorous take on himself for Showtime, will finish on January 5, while the eight seasons of animated child favorite My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic will expire on January 31.
Netflix has also announced a number of new movies and TV shows that will be added over the course of the month.
