Cereals production in Turkey in 2021 decreased 14.3 percent from last year, along with a 13.9 percent drop in wheat production, according to official data released on Thursday.
Turkey produced less cereals this year than in 2020 at 31.9 million tons, while wheat output fell to 17.7 million tons, the Turkish Statistical Institute reported.
Barley output declined 30.7 percent to 5.8 million tons in 2021 and oats production fell by 12.2 percent to 276 thousand tons.
Maize production, however, went up 3.8 percent to 6.8 million tons.
Meanwhile, vegetable output increased by 1.8 percent year-on-year to some 31.8 million tons. Onion and garlic productions grew the fastest among vegetables, increasing by 9.6 percent and 13.5 percent, respectively.
Production of fruits, beverage, and spices also increased, growing 5.4 percent to 24.9 million tons in 2021.
