Pakistani Airline Resume Direct Flights to Iran After Five Years Pause

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the resumption of direct flights to Iran on Thursday after a five years pause aimed at boosting tourism.

PIA spokesperson Abdullah Khan said that the first PIA flight departed from Lahore to Mashhad on Wednesday night.

“It is a PK-119 PIA flight that has departed for Mashhad with 165 passengers on board,” Khan said.

Khan added that another direct flight from Pakistan’s Karachi to Iran’s Mashhad would begin on Saturday.

PIA Chief Executive Officer, Arshad Malik said the resumption of flight will remove the burden for the people willing to travel to Iran from Pakistan.

Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mohammad Ali Hosseini said that the two countries have agreed to promote air cooperation.
