Azerbaijan handed over five captured Armenian soldiers to Yerevan, state authority announced on Wednesday.
The Hostages and Missing Persons said in a statement that the released soldiers were detained on November 16 in the Kalbajar border region, said Azerbaijan’s State Commission on Prisoners of War,
The extradition of the Armenian detainees was carried out through Hungary’s mediation.
According to the statement, 21 Armenian soldiers have been handed over to the Yerevan authorities in the past two months.
Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia have been tense since 1991 over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, in which both sides claimed its part of their territory.
