The United States House Select Committee investigating the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol riot issued six additional subpoenas on Nov. 8 to top Trump officials and allies who supported efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
The Committee issued subpoenas to Trump 2020 reelection campaign manger William Stepien, former Trump 2020 reelection campaign Senior Advisor Jason Miller, and former Trump 2020 reelection campaign National Executive Assistant Angela McCallum.
The Committee also issued subpoenas to John Eastman, an attorney who reportedly helped in efforts to resist certification of the Electoral College vote; Michael Flynn, a former U.S. National Security Advisor who reportedly attended a meeting in the Oval Office to falsely promote election fraud; and Bernard Kerik, a former New York City Police Commissioner who attended a meeting at the Willard Hotel to strategize overturning the election results.
According to the Committee, Trump campaign officials and allies used a so-called “war room” to drive efforts to stop the counting of electoral votes in the runup to the Jan. 6 riot.
The Committee is demanding the subpoenaed individuals to provide records and testimony between late November and mid-December.
“The Select Committee needs to know every detail about their efforts to overturn the election, including who they were talking to in the White House and in Congress, what connections they had with rallies that escalated into a riot, and who paid for it all,” Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson said in a statement.
