The Turkish Ministry of Health said they have registered 20,108 new cases of COVID-19 and 173 related deaths in the past 24 hours, pushing the total tally to 9.3 million nationwide.
The new cases were reported out of 351,000 suspected samples tested during this period of time, as per daily figures of the ministry.
As of 7 December 26, 719,425 vaccine doses were administered in 24 hours, the ministry said.
The ministry furthered that so far 56.78 million people have received at least one vaccine dose, and another 51.38 million people received two doses.
Another 16.9 million people received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccines, totalling at least 128.3 million shots.
The ministry said among Turkey’s adult population, 91.51 percent received at least one vaccine dose and 82.80 percent received at least two doses.
According to Johns Hopkins University, since the start of the pandemic in December 2019, the pandemic has claimed over 5.39 million lives in at least 192 countries and regions, with more than 279.11 million cases reported worldwide.
