Poland Summons Belarussian Ambassador After Alleged Armed Incursion

Poland has summoned the Belarusian diplomatic representative Aleksandr Czasnouski after unidentified armed people in uniform were seen entering Polish territory from Belarus.

“Another provocation! On Tuesday night (November 2 at 1:45 am), Polish soldiers noticed three uniformed people with long weapons on the territory of the Republic of Poland. After the Polish patrol tried to make contact, unknown persons reloaded their weapons and then departed towards Belarus,” said Stanisław Żaryn, Spokesperson of the Polish Minister-Special Services Coordinator.

Polish deputy foreign minister Piotr Wawrzyk said he informed Czasnouski that their country’s actions since the past few weeks have appeared to be a “deliberate escalation.”

The Polish-Belarussian border has been subject to much controversy after Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko alleged started weaponizing migrants against its neighboring countries.

In October alone, there were 16,800 attempted illegal border crossings into Poland.
