Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Massacre Suspect Nikolas Cruz has pleaded guilty to Murdering 17.
Cruz has also pleaded guilty to 17 counts of attempted murder for his other victims that were wounded but survived during the massacre in Parkland, Florida last Feb. 14, 2018.
Cruz has already pleaded guilty last week to a separate charge of attempted aggravated battery and three other felony charges after attacking a jail guard nine months after he was detained.
Cruz said his pleas after answering questions from Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer to confirm his sanity.
“I am very sorry for what I did and have to live with it every day. If I were to get a second chance, I would do everything in my power to help others,” Cruz said after his plea.
Cruz’s legal team had earlier said that he would plead guilty if the death penalty was not considered and that he could serve 17 life sentences instead.
Scherer said they planned on screening thousands of prospective jurors for Cruz’s penalty trial in November and December to determine if he would receive the death sentence.
