Netherlands to Impose Partial Lockdown to Tame COVID-19 Surge

The Netherlands will impose a partial lockdown starting from Saturday in order to quell the surge of new Covid-19 cases.

Netherlands Caretaker Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s cabinet will announce the new measures in a televised press conference later today.

The move comes as the country recorded 16,300 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

During the 21 day lockdown people are asked to work from home, while restaurants, bars, and other nonessential stores will be ordered to close at 07:00PM.

Schools, cinemas and theaters will remain open, and no audiences will be allowed to attend sporting events.
