Myanmar Junta forces have shelled the town of Thantlang, in western Chin State and ended up destroying more than100 homes al; along with the offices of NGO Save the Children.
The shelling started after Junta forces have clashed with civilian defense militias and looted several homes in the mostly deserted Thantlang township.
The fires reportedly started at the CB Bank, Zay ward, and soon spread to Zon Mon and Lon Til wards.
Aside from the Save the Children office, two churches have been razed as well.
Save the Children said all of its 10 staff working in the area have already evacuated but did not say if any were hurt.
“Save the Children condemns these attacks in the strongest possible terms. Indiscriminate attacks including on civilians and humanitarian organizations are violations of international humanitarian law. We call on the parties responsible to refrain from any such attack and to put the protection of civilians – especially children — front and center,” said Save the Children.
Most Thantlang residents have already fled to India last September after clashes between rebel groups and the military started.
