Japanese Intelligence Agency Warns of Economic Threats from China

The Japanese Public Security Intelligence Agency warned of economic security threats from China.

“There is a concern that China will continue to work on acquiring (Japanese) companies and inviting human resources with advanced expertise,” said the agency.

According to the agency, Chinese corporate entities are trying to get stakes or acquire Japanese semiconductor manufacturing companies and recruit Japanese researchers.

The agency also warned of cyberattacks aimed at important sectors which often affect the economy or safety of entire industrial; sectors and even governments.

Japan recently announced it will require local infrastructure sectors such as finance, telecom, and transport to have plans for possible cyberattacks.
