Iraqi Army Says All Foreign Combat Forces Left Iraq

The government of Iraq announced on Thursday that all the international combat troops have left the country, but said a small number of consultants remained.

Iraqi Maj Gen Tahsin Al Khafaji, spokesman for the Joint Operations Command said all of the combat forces left Iraq, and only advisers and those working in the field of intelligence, reconnaissance, and training remained.

There are currently 2,500 US troops in Iraq helping local forces in the fight against ISIS.

The US forces also engaged in advising and training the Iraqi forces to improve their fighting capabilities to quell the threat posed by ISIS.

Thie announcement came just after Iraqi forces carried out an airstrike targeting several ISIS sites between the borders of Diyala and Saladin governorates, Shafaq

The airstrikes destroyed the hideouts of ISIS, and  a number of terrorists were killed without specifying the exact numbers.
