Iran Allegedly Blocks US Fuel Seizure in the Gulf of Oman

Iran claimed that it has prevented the US Navy from seizing one of its fuel tankers in the Sea of Oman.

“The naval forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have managed to thwart an attempt by the United States to take over a giant oil tanker in the strategic Sea of Oman and moved the vessel to Iranian territorial waters,” said Iran state media, PressTV.

Iran however did not clarify when the incident actually occurred and which of their vessels were involved.

“American forces pursued the tanker by helicopters and warships but failed to capture it,” added IRNA.

The US Navy has not confirmed or commented on the incident.

The US has already conducted several seizures in the past involving Iranian fuel tankers headed to Venezuela.
