A box of chocolates with a bomb inside was sent as a wedding gift to the daughter of a Lebanese general but was safely defused and caused no injuries
According to The National news agency, an army official said that the explosive device that was sent on Tuesday evening was successfully defused.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the senders of the explosive while no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the incident yet.
On Tuesday, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office advised citizens against all but essential travel to Lebanon “due to ongoing instability”, said an update on its website.
