Disney made substantial adjustments to its planned film release schedule for 2022 on Monday, including the postponement of many highly anticipated movies.
The release date for “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” was set for March 25, 2022. The film will now be released in cinemas on May 6, 2022.
Similarly, the release date of “Thor: Love and Thunder” has been pushed back to July 8, 2022, from May 6.
The release date of the Black Panther sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” has also been pushed back from July 2022 to November 11, 2022.
The release date of “The Marvels,” which was initially scheduled for November 2022, has been moved to February 17, 2023.
The release date of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” has been pushed out to July 28, 2023, from February 17, 2023, as well.
Meanwhile, the release date of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” remains the same for May 5, 2023.
Disney has also revealed that the unnamed Indiana Jones film, which is now in development, will be pushed back nearly a year, from July 29, 2022, to June 30, 2023.
Disney clarifies that the new release dates are due to manufacturing issues, not a shift in the company’s distribution strategy.
