Belarusian Embassy in London “Attacked”, 1 Diplomatic Staff Injured

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry reported that their London embassy has been attacked by unidentified assailants while one of their staff has been injured.

“On the evening of December 19, 2021, an attack was made on the Belarusian embassy in London. First, a group of people damaged the facade of the building of the foreign establishment, and then the Belarusian diplomats who arrived at the scene were physically attacked,” said the ministry.

The injured diplomat reportedly suffered a broken nose, a slight concussion, and a broken tooth.

The assailants were alleged to be members of the radical emigrant group Nadzeya.

The alleged Nadzeya members reportedly tried to escape but some were arrested by police.

“This attack committed against persons, who protect the interests of Belarusian citizens and work to improve interstate relations, once again eloquently demonstrates the true face and methods of fanatics, whom a number of Western countries are trying to pass off as peaceful protesters,” said the ministry.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has summoned the UK charge d’affaires and asked them to bring those responsible to justice and to protect the embassy.
