Amazon Web Services Third Outage Disrupts Slack, Asana

Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced on Wednesday its third outage in a month, slowing down online services including Slack, Asana, and the Epic Games Store.

The official AWS service health dashboard said that the disruptions were due to a “loss of power within a single data center within a single Availability Zone (USE1-AZ4) in the US-EAST-1 Region.”

Amazon had marked the issue resolved a few hours after the problem began, although some users continued to experience issues due to the relaunching of servers.

Business communication platform Slack had apologized to users during the peak of the outage after users had trouble with file uploads and messaging, saying that the problem was “the result of an outage affecting one of our service providers”.

Work management tool Asana and Epic Games Store had also issued notices about the outage affecting their services.

AWS, a major provider of cloud services, experienced two other major outages on Dec. 7 and 15.
