Severe Storms Lead to Deaths in Arkansas, Trapped Workers in Illinois

Tornadoes on Friday night swept through Arkansas and Illinois, trapping workers at a partially collapsed warehouse while causing at least two deaths and several injuries in a nursing home.

At least two people were killed and five were seriously injured after a tornado directly hit the Monette Manor nursing home in Monette, Arkansas at around 8 p.m. on Friday. Authorities are still searching the area for any other possible victims.

Meanwhile, the roof of an Amazon distribution center in Edwardsville, Illinois was ripped off, trapping approximately more than 100 people inside the building. The exact number of trapped people has not yet been confirmed.

A photo from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch showed a large portion of the wall and roof of the Amazon warehouse completely collapsed. Around 30 to 40 emergency vehicles were reported on the scene.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued notices of a tornado possibly headed for parts of Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee until Saturday.

The NWS has issued 8 tornado emergencies so far and advised residents in affected areas to take shelter.

This is a developing story.
