Simu Liu won the People’s Choice Award for best action movie star of the year for his work as the titular character in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” on Tuesday night.
“Shang-Chi” also took up the award for best action film of the year.
Twitter exploded with admiration for Marvel’s newest star — as well as enthusiasm over the fact that he was seated next to “Loki” actor Tom Hiddleston, who also won male TV star of the year.
“Shang-Chi,” which debuted in early September, is the year’s highest-earning picture in the United States, with $224.5 million. It was also the first Marvel picture with a primarily Asian cast and an Asian superhero at the forefront.
