Ukraine Wants US, UK, and Canadian Troops at Border With Russia

Ukrainian Defense Minister, Alexey Reznikov demanded the US, UK, and Canada deploy troops to be stationed at Ukraine’s borders with Russia in order to deter a military conflict with Moscow.

Reznikov called on “the Anglo-Saxon allies” to provide assistance to Ukraine outside of NATO structures, including sending more military trainers to the country.

He supported these deployments in Kharkiv, Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Odessa, and Zminiy Island, which is located in the east and south of Ukraine close to the border with Russia.

“Together with United Kingdom guys, with United States guys, in bilateral platforms, without NATO. Three flags – the flag of Canada, the flag of the United States and the flag of the UK – should be flying around these territories. It would also be a good sign for the Russians – that you are here,” he told the press.

Recently the US warned Russia against military aggression in Ukraine. The US expressed its deep concern about Russia’s plan for renewed aggression against Ukraine, turning it costly for Moscow if it once again tried to invade the country.

“We have a strong, ironclad commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken had said recently.

Ukraine’s Defense Minister Reznikov’s request comes amid increasing fears over an alleged military buildup on the Russian border with Ukraine.
