CNN announced that anchor Chris Cuomo has been “terminated” after being suspended for allegedly helping his brother former New York governor Andrew Cuomo stave off sexual misconduct accusations.
“Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother’s defense. We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately,” said CNN.
Attorney Debra S. Katz also told CNN that her client, an alleged former colleague of Chris from another network had a sexual misconduct allegation against him and was unrelated to the ongoing investigation against Andrew.
“Based on the report we received regarding Chris’s conduct with his brother’s defense, we had cause to terminate. When new allegations came to us this week, we took them seriously, and saw no reason to delay taking immediate action,” said CNN on the other allegations.
Cuomo has not yet commented on the new allegations.
