Vietnam to Produce More Sputnik V Vaccine under Agreement with Russia

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, has announced on Thursday the expansion of cooperation with partners in Vietnam to produce the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus.

According to a press release, RDIF, together with Russia’s leading pharmaceutical company, Binnopharm Group, and Vietnam’s T&T GROUP, have signed an agreement to create a full-cycle production of Sputnik V in Vietnam.

RDIF, Vabiotech (Russia’s Sputnik V producer), and the Sovico investment group also signed a cooperation agreement to expand its production and set up manufacturing of the one-shot Sputnik Light vaccine in Vietnam.

The release said RDIF is actively working with Vietnam’s regulatory authorities to register Sputnik Light in the country.

Russia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sergey Katyrin said the technical implementation of the project would start in the first quarter of 2022.

Katyrin added that RDIF would organize the transfer of the technology, coordinated by the Russian-Vietnamese business council, since the beginning of its discussion.

The business council was set up under the guidance and participation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
