Afghan Taliban, Iranian Forces End Clash On Border

The Afghan Taliban forces and the Iranian border guards ended clashes erupted on the border side between the two neighboring countries.

“A clash between Iranian border guards and the Taliban erupted on Wednesday afternoon following a misunderstanding at the border near the Afghan province of Nimroz,” Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported.

According to Tasnim, Iranian farmers passed beyond the protective walls erected within Iran, and the Taliban reacted by deeming that their border had been breached.

Taliban deputy spokesman, Bilal Karim confirmed clashes with Iranian border guards in Nimroz province.

Without giving further details, he said the clashes have stopped with no casualties on the Afghan side.

Afghanistan and Iran shares a 900 kilometre border and Nimroz, a province where clashes had taken place, is located in the southwestern of Afghanistan.
