Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy claimed there was a coup against him that was set to begin early as next week.
“We have challenges not only from the Russian Federation and possible escalation – we have big internal challenges. I received information that a coup d’etat will take place in our country on Dec. 1-2,” said Zelenskiy.
Zelenskiy added that businessman Rinat Akhmetov and Russia were involved in the coup plot but did not specify how. and only said there was audio evidence.
Zelenskiy said that Akhmetov may be invited for questioning in order to gain more information on the alleged coup plot.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov immediately responded to Zelenskiy’s statement and denied that Russia had any connection to the alleged plot.
“Russia has never had any plans to take part. Russia generally never engages in such matters,” said Peskov.
