Russia Says Negotiations, Not Force, Can Solve Ukraine Issue

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Maria Zakharova has said that they have ruled out the use of force to resolve tensions with Ukraine and that negotiations were the only possible way to solve them.

“No option of resolving the Ukrainian crisis through force exists. The only way is through negotiations aimed at both sides hearing each other out and arriving at a mutual understanding,” said Zakharova.

Zakharova said the implementation of the Minsk Accords is supported by the international community and must be fulfilled.

Zakharova added that NATO is reportedly ignoring Moscow’s warnings and continues to fan tension at the  Ukraine-Russian border by holding military drills.

“Russia warns NATO against fanning tension near the Russian borders. NATO keeps silent and continues,” she said.

NATO’s Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg  has also called on Russia to “be transparent, reduce tensions and de-escalate the situation.”
