The government of India on Friday expressed concern over the recent development in Afghanistan, backing an inclusive government in the country.
“As a neighbor and long-standing partner of Afghanistan, India is concerned about the recent developments in that country. India supports an inclusive and representative government in Afghanistan,” said Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
Jaishankar explained that RIC countries need to work together to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches the Afghan people without hindrance and politicization and to deal with threats of terrorism, drug trafficking, and radicalization.
Recently India’s envoy to the United Nations, T S Tirumurti, has told the Security Council that India is ready to send food grains and medicine to Afghanistan and willing to coordinate with other stakeholders to ensure expeditious delivery of humanitarian assistance to the country.
