French Prime Minister Jean Castex tested positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 22.
Castex’s office confirmed to AFP News that Castex “immediately carried out a PCR test” after he found out that his 11-year-old daughter had tested positive.
BFMTV reported that Castex, 56, showed no symptoms.
The positive test result means that Castex has to isolate for 10 days.
Castex is fully vaccinated and has never tested positive before.
Earlier in the day, Castex met Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo in Brussels. He was accompanied by French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin and Europe Minister Clement Beaune.
According to RTBF, De Croo and four other Belgian ministers were self-isolating after the meeting.
De Croo will be tested on Nov. 24 and will remain in quarantine until the result of his test, RTBF further reported.
