Donbas Separatists Have Raised Combat-Readiness Amid Increased Tensions with Ukraine Army

The Ukrainian Defence Ministry reported that Russin-backed Donbas separatists have increased their combat readiness and are conducting exercises amid recent tensions.

“On November 22, 2021, large-scale command and staff exercises with the involvement of the mobilization reserve, units of “power structures” and occupation administrations began in the formations and units of the 1st (Donetsk) and 2nd (Luhansk) army corps. The control of the exercises is carried out by the complex commission of the 8th All-Military Army of the Southern Military District of the RF Armed Forces,” said the Ministry.

Russia however said that it was the Ukraine that was guilty of provocative actions in the region.

“We find very worrisome the Ukrainian military’s provocative actions on the engagement line and preparations for a possible attempt to handle the problem of Donbas from the position of strength,” said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

The Kremlin added that it was alarmed by NATO’s alleged plan to supply Ukraine with high-tech weapons, ammo, and military advisers to provoke further conflict in the region.
