Swedish PM Resigns

Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven has resigned just a week after he stepped down as leader of the Social Democrats.

Lofven was filmed and photographed handing his resignation letter to the speaker of parliament, Andreas Norlen.

Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson is expected to replace Lofven as head of the Social Democrats and could be Sweden’s first female Prime Minister if elected.

Lofven however will remain as caretaker premier until the upcoming elections.
