Iranians Hold 1979 US Embassy Takeover Anniversary Rallies

The Iranian government has organized commemoration rallies for the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.

“Iranians of all walks of life have begun staging rallies across the country to mark the National Day of the Fight against Global Arrogance, shouting slogans against the US and Israeli regimes over their inhumane, hegemonic actions,” said Iranian state media PressTV.

Iranians were seen on video shouting “Death to America” and “Death to Israel,” while burning U.S. and Israeli flags.

Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) commander General Hossein Salami delivered a televised speech condemning the US for their alleged hostility.

The rallies were meant to commemorate the National Day of the Fight against Global Arrogance, a national holiday to remember the 444-day hostage crisis and straining of relations with the US.

The National Day of the Fight against Global Arrogance was reportedly held across 800 cities in Iran but there were no official figures on how many participated.
