Northern Virginia authorities reported that they have increased security in response to rumors about possible terrorist attacks at malls this Halloween.
A photo that circulated on social media showed an alleged message saying that there could be a possible ISIS attack on malls in the Alexandria or Woodbridge area.
Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said however they could not publicly disclose details about the threat and where it originated.
“As we work to corroborate it, we have increased our police presence throughout the county to include major thoroughfares, transit hubs, shopping plazas, and shopping malls,” said Davis.
The FBI Washington Field Office has not commented on the threat while the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said they are still trying to get more information on the threat.
