Big Winter Storm Strikes U.S. Northeast

A big winter storm has pummeled the United States’ east coast, causing flights to be canceled, vaccination sites to close, and paralyzed New York City.

Up to 19 inches of snow had fallen in certain parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, while 17 inches had fallen in New York City by Monday afternoon.

Both New York City and the state of New Jersey have declared a state of emergency.

According to the US National Weather Service, the storm is expected to travel north to New England before dissipating on Tuesday.

Vaccine delivery has also been delayed in Connecticut, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Philadelphia, sections of Washington, DC, and the New York region due to the storm.

Vaccinations will be canceled in New York City until Tuesday, as Mayor de Blasio has stated that it is “not safe” for senior citizens to walk outside in the blizzard conditions.
