Thailand to Stop Administering Sinovac Vaccine After Supply Runs Out

Thailand will stop administering Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines to its citizens once it has depleted its existing stocks.

Opas Karnkawinpong, a Thai health ministry official said that they have already used over 31.5 million Sinovac doses since February in conjunction with AstraZeneca.

“We expect to have distributed all Sinovac doses this week,” said Karnkawinpong.

Karnkawinpong added that they will soon combine Astrazeneca vaccines with the ones made by Pfizer.

Thailand also plans on procuring 120 million COVID-19 vaccines along with 60 million doses of locally made AstraZeneca.

Only 36 percent of the estimated 72 million population have been vaccinated so far while most provinces have started quarantine-free reopenings for low-risk countries.
