A wounded officer fatally shot a suspect who killed his teenage son and a 42-year-old woman in Fort Smith, Arkansas on Oct. 17 morning.
Police Chief Danny Baker said at a press briefing that they received a call at 6:20 a.m. about a disturbance on Tilles Avenue.
An officer arrived at the scene within minutes and found the suspect — later identified as 40-year-old Christopher Conner — attacking his 15-year-old son with a rock.
The officer ordered Conner to stop and attempted to handcuff him when he appeared to comply. However, Conner took out what police described as an “edged weapon” and sliced the officer’s throat.
The officer fired two shots at Conner, killing him.
The teenager was brought to the hospital where he was pronounced dead after sustaining multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma, Baker said.
Police also found the body of another victim, Julia Marie Moore, inside a home with multiple stab wounds.
A five-year-old child was also found unharmed. He is currently in the custody of relatives.
The officer, who has not been publicly named, underwent surgery for serious lacerations and was currently in stable condition, according to Baker.
Baker also said that the state police will investigate the incident.
