A bombing inside the Bibi Fatima Shia mosque in Afghanistan’s southern city of Kandahar has killed at least 32 and injured 68 more.
“We are saddened to learn that an explosion took place in a mosque of the Shiite Brotherhood in the first district of Kandahar city in which a number of our compatriots were martyred and wounded,” said Interior Ministry spokesman Sayed Khosti.
Khosti added that Taliban Special forces were already deployed at the scene to investigate and catch the perpetrators.
Footage from inside the mosque shows the damaged interior that is strewn with debris, blood, and human remains.
There are no definite figures yet on the number of fatalities but health officials initially reported that 32 people have been killed and expect more.
No group has taken responsibility for the attack but witnesses claimed that four suicide bombers were involved.
