Dutch authorities said that according to court documents, a man apprehended in the Netherlands last July had threatened to kill caretaker Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
Yavus O., as identified by authorities, reportedly utilized social messaging app Telegram to create a channel called De Batavian Republic where he sent messages indicative of violence, posted conspiracy theories, and searched for weapons and gunmen.
Authorities have shut down the Telegram channel and are looking into detaining him until investigations have concluded.
The Public Prosecution Service also summoned three of the channel’s administrators. It said that two of them were already arrested, while one of them is in jail in Northern Ireland while waiting for repatriation.
Last month, Prime Minister Rutte had been provided with extra security on suspicion that he might be a criminal gang’s target.
