Donald Trump Falls Off Forbes’ 400 Richest People in America

Former President Donald Trump has fallen off the list of Forbes’ 400 richest people in America on Tuesday after 25 years of being included on it.

Forbes reported that Trump’s fortune dropped to $2.5 billion which is $400 million short of the cutoff needed to make this year’s list.

Forbes blamed Trump’s current absence from the list on his failure to diversify his assets from real estate to other thriving assets such as technology stocks and cryptocurrencies, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump’s fortune dropped largely due to the pandemic, hitting big-city properties which make up much of Trump’s fortune.

Forbes senior editor Dan Alexander noted: “From 1997 to 2016, Donald Trump maintained a spot in the top half of the Forbes 400. But things took a turn for the worse the year he won the presidency. After five years of dropping in the rankings, he’s now off the list entirely.”

Leaders in the technology industry largely dominated the top rankings of Forbes’ 2021 list. Forbes’ listed former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos as the top richest American.
