Land Rover Recalls Various Range Rovers with Seat Belt Issue Due to Faulty Seat Belt Automatic Locking Retractor

Land Rover recalled 28,000 vehicles due to potential safety risk.

The recall includes the following:

  • Model year 2021 Range Rovers
  • Model year 2022 Range Rover Sports
  • Model year 2020-2021 Range Rover Velars & Discovery Sports
  • Model year 2020-2022 Discoverys & Defenders due to potential safety risk

The seat belt automatic locking detractors may deactivate early, which can prevent the child restraint system from securing properly.

An unsecured child restraint system can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt assemblies — as necessary — free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 22, 2021.

There have been no reported incidents or injuries to date.
